Things to do on Madeira Island

Right next to Quinta das Colmeias we have the Santo da Serra Golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, a fabulous 27 holes, par 72 with breathtaking scenery. You will also find the Quinta de São Jorge horse riding center next door providing lessons and walks for all levels of riders. There is also a small park in the village, famous for its cider. The beach at Machico is only 10 minutes away as is Santa Cruz, the kids will love the Aqua Park there.

Long known as a walkers paradise, Madeira has much to offer for experienced walkers as well as for those that just want to ‘see the sights’. Try the levada walk at Rabaçal, through UNESCO world heritage Laurisilva forests. Cross the grand massive from Pico Areeiro to Pico Ruivo the highest point on the Island or walk to the end of the Island at Ponta de São Lourenço.
